I'm ~~thinking about~~ moving to wordpress and taking over a blog a friend started some time ago but never used.

It's called idego.

The dude, we will call him innocuous-boy-man, is going to become a posting partner there. We have busy schedules, don't care for blogs but want to fuck around some on the on the internet.

We've have been best of friends since meeting in kindergarten; he disappeared and went to ~~juvie~~ another school in second grade and when he reappeared in middle school we , like moths to a flame, were again drawn to each other, (not in “that way”; although, now that I think of it we did argue frequently over who our only gay, male, high school friend found more attractive. )

Narcissism at it’s finest.

I have imported all my post to wordpress, haven’t done links so far;they are still the original links from the original owner. That will change just not tonight.

My conscience has been corroded, some blog linked my brief little post about Guatanamo and Coops post on Kristoffs misguided column on duke lacrosse,( it was actually this link they used),in a bunch of examples of liberal whining. They then removed the linkability of the link later on so as not to give exposure to "liberal".

They were kind enough to leave a link, an attribution link, which was left to instigate .

I would link the post but I didn’t do it yesterday and I am not going to so it today; that would be exposing maybe one more person to their drivel and giving them exposure is not what I am going to do.

Relatives of two Saudi detainees who died at Guantanamo Bay said the men could not have committed suicide as the U.S. military reported, because they are strict Muslims, newspapers said on Monday.

Islam prohibits suicide and sets out harsh punishments in the after-life for those who take their own lives. The men's families said they had probably been killed.

Saudi Arabia, a staunch U.S. ally, identified the two Saudis as Manei al-Otaibi and Yasser al-Zahrani and said it was working on the repatriation of their bodies. The kingdom did not say how the men died but the U.S. military said the detainees, along with a Yemeni man, had hanged themselves.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — One of the Guantanamo detainees who committed suicide had been cleared for transfer to another country, a second allegedly was involved in an Afghanistan prison uprising in which a CIA agent died, and a third had ties to al-Qaida.

The Defense Department on Sunday identified the three as Mani Shaman Turki al-Habardi Al-Utaybi, Yassar Talal Al-Zahrani and Ali Abdullah Ahmed of Yemen.

The U.S. military said the bodies of the two Saudis and one Yemeni were found in their cells on Saturday, hanging from sheets and clothing. Officials said all three left suicide notes, the contents of which have not been made public.

The scientists involved in the new research are calling the objects "planemos," short for planetary mass objects that were born in the manner of stars and do not orbit normal stars.

"Now that we know of these planetary mass objects with their own little infant planetary systems, the definition of the word 'planet' has blurred even more," said study leader Ray Jayawardhana from the University of Toronto.

Observations at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Chile revealed infrared radiation from the dust disks. There are no conventional photographs of the objects. The results of this and a second, related study are being presented today at the 208th meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Calgary.

The new observations were of objects previously identified in work led by Katelyn Allers, then at the University of Texas at Austin. Allers used data from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope.

The discoveries are not the first of their kind, however.

UMass men take road upset over sixth-seeded Cornell (IL.com)

Ithaca, NY - It didn't take long for the NCAA Tournament to find its first upset, as the unseeded Massachusetts Minutemen dramatically knocked off sixth-seeded Cornell 10-9 in front of 5,023 fans at Schoellkopf Field on Saturday afternoon.

UMass advanced into the NCAA Quarterfinals for the third time in the last four years and will take on the winner of the first-round matchup between Hofstra and Providence next Saturday, meaning the team that makes it out of this bracket alive will advance to its first ever national semifinals.

In a game that featured six ties and three lead changes, the Minutemen were able to put together the last two-goal run of the contest to escape with the win.

Trailing 9-8 with under four minutes remaining, Fred Federico started his charge 30 yards away from the cage, dodged to the right side and put his shot past goalie Matt McMonagle to tie the score at 9 with 3:46 to play. The sophomore midfielder knocked home the tying goal with his lone shot of the day.

“I told the guys in the locker room that it takes a lot of courage to take that shot when you’re down by a goal with a couple minutes to go in the game,” UMass coach Greg Cannella said. “Freddy is that type of kid, and I give kudos to him. He did it against a pole. He seemed very determined on the play, and it was an outstanding shot.”

“The goalie was bating me to one side, and I just shot it to the other side where he left the cage wide open,” Federico said. “I just treated it like it was any other play. That was how I tried to do it, and I went out there and made it happen.”

One the next UMass possession, attackman Clay Stabert worked behind the net before finding Andrew Recchione near the top of the box on the left side. Recchione then fired a shot that beat McMonagle on the high side to give the Minutemen a 10-9 advantage with 2:34 remaining.

“My defenseman had his eyes all over Sean [Morris], and it left me free on the right wing,” Recchione said. “I just closed my eyes and found the back of the net.”

Then, as the clock was winding down and Cornell was looking to send the game into overtime, UMass goalie Doc Schneider stopped Joe Boulukos’ last-gasp bounce shot with just four seconds left to seal the victory. The senior midfielder, who was Cornell’s active leading goal scorer in the NCAA Tournament with six tallies entering Saturday, was frustrated by UMass defenseman Jack Reid throughout the game, including the final play.

“I was coming down the field in transition,” Boulukos said. “I saw that I had a good matchup so I was calling for the ball from Max [Seibald], and I got it. Reid was able to get over on me. I drove to the middle and kind of got in trouble so I tried to roll back out. He did a good job staying on my hands. I came back, and he got a good check on me. I couldn’t get much muster on my shot. I forced [the shot] in there, but it was the last play of the game so I was just trying to make something happen.”

Reid did a number on his counterpart every time he was on the field, holding the Big Red’s most prolific scoring midfielder to just a single goal while shadowing him at the top of the box, away from his typical location near the crease.

“[Boulukos] is just a great player, and I had my hands full all day,” Reid said. “I wasn’t as comfortable up there today as I was behind the cage, but I just tried to do my best to stay in his gloves to make his shot difficult to get off. Even doing that, he was still getting shots off on the cage. He is a phenomenal player, and I just did my best to stay with him.”

UMass senior long-stick midfielder Jake Deane was dominant on face-offs, winning 17-of-23 against Cornell’s three-man team of Tommy Schmicker, Seibald and Boulukos. Deane also snagged 11 ground balls.

“When you look at the stats, they were all fairly even except [face-offs],” Cannella said. “Obviously, that was a huge factor in the game with the extra possessions because we had 19 turnovers. But anytime they scored, it seemed like we got the ball back; anytime we scored, it seemed like we got the ball back so I thought that was a huge factor in the game. I give Jake a lot of credit for that.”

Morris paced the Maroon and White offense with two goals and three assists while Schneider made 10 saves between the pipes.

David Mitchell led the way for Cornell with three goals in the losing effort.

“Overall, we’re obviously disappointed that our season comes to an end right now but not disappointed with the way the guys competed,” Cornell coach Jeff Tambroni said.

After lightning delayed the start of the game by 20 minutes, Cornell complimented the weather with a thunderous start by jumping out to a 3-0 lead with the help of two goals from Mitchell and one from Boulukos in the team’s first four possessions, causing Cannella to call a timeout.

“It was 3-0, and the crowd was getting loud so we called a timeout to take a deep breath,” Cannella said. “We said, ‘Let’s relax and try to play our game.’ We were winning face-offs. We had some opportunities early, but the goalie made a couple good saves against us. We just needed to settle down and focus on what our game plan was.”

Cannella’s troops responded with a three-goal burst of their own, and Pat Larmon’s goal at the 8:55 mark of the second quarter evened the score. Derek Haswell put the Big Red back on top 1:22 later after he dodged through a double-team and beat Schneider while hitting the turf. Recchione tied the game 48 seconds after that with his first goal of the afternoon, and the two teams went into the locker room knotted at four.

Morris opened up the second half with three points in under 10 minutes. Working from behind the net, he came around the right side, quickly turned and dumped the ball over his shoulder to beat McMonagle with 13:41 to play in the third quarter.

After Cornell’s Casey Lewis tied the contest at 5 with 7:09 to play, Morris set up both Stabert and Jamie Yaman to give UMass a 7-5 edge, its largest lead of the day.

The tides turned once again as Cornell answered with two straight goals, and Mitchell completed his hat trick to tie the game at 7 with 12:41 remaining in the final frame.

Brian Jacovina, UMass’ craftiest assist man over the last month, put the Minutemen back on top with his seventh goal of the season with 5:54 to play.

The Big Red rallied with two scores in the ensuing 30 seconds to take a 9-8 lead, its first advantage since the 7:33 mark of the second quarter.

Speaking of Lacrosse.

This is meant to be taken as half serious.

Big Red is doing pretty well this year.
They are sixth in the media poll and third is the latest coaches poll.
A small history for those that do not know.

New York University fielded the nation's first college team in 1877, and Philips Academy, Andover (Massachusetts), Philips Exeter Academy (New Hampshire) and the Lawrenceville School (New Jersey) were the nation's first high school teams in 1882. There are 400 college and 1,200 high school men's lacrosse teams from coast to coast.

The first women's lacrosse game was played in 1890 at the St. Leonard's School in Scotland. Although an attempt was made to start women's lacrosse at Sweet Briar College in Virginia in 1914, it was not until 1926 that Miss Rosabelle Sinclair established the first women's lacrosse team in the United States at the Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore, Maryland.

Men's and women's lacrosse were played under virtually the same rules, with no protective equipment, until the mid-1930s. At that time, men's lacrosse began evolving dramatically, while women's lacrosse continued to remain true to the game's original rules. Men's and women's lacrosse remain derivations of the same game today, but are played under different rules. Women's rules limit stick contact, prohibit body contact and, therefore, require little protective equipment. Men's lacrosse rules allow some degree of stick and body contact, although violence is neither condoned nor allowed.

Field lacrosse is sometimes perceived to be a violent and dangerous game, however, injury statistics prove otherwise. While serious injuries can and do occur in lacrosse, the game has evolved with an emphasis on safety, and the rate of injury is comparatively low. Ensuring the safety of participants is a major focus for US Lacrosse and its Sports Science and Safety Committee, which researches injury data in the sport and makes recommendations to make the game as safe as practicable./blockquote>

I thought the project was going to take longer than it did. The consequence of this is that am heading to Louisiana to” build me some house” next week. I just found out I was free and one of my professors was able to get me in. Ta Da. Nan was already planning on going so that makes it even better.

I'm quite sick this week with a nasty cold and fever. This is going around and it takes a week or so to get over it. Not much to do for it except take iubuforan, lots of fluid and cough medicine.
Everytone is trying to get antibiotics from the " infirmary" but because it is a virus they like to wait until we come down with secondary infections like pneumonia before they do that. I hate antibiotics but am not against prophylaxis even though , from what I understand, it takes away future immunity. I am going to suffer for a few more days but if this cough doesn't go away I'm getting myself something to take care of this.

Hating life this morning and waiting for the cough medicine to work.

Leaving in a couple hours and will be back in Ithaca tomorrow.

Nan spent the last few days with me at home. We took in beautiful downtown….you know where. It is getting large and larger. They have restored a large amount of it and the project at the “creek“is finally in full swing.

It will be a mini Georgetown but better due to, as least so far, the inclusion of some very fine privately owned shops and a couple of great privately owned coffee/tea shops. Pit Stop moved up Market Street some, but is still a great place for extreme sport paraphernalia. A pizza shop now sits on that corner.

I will be happy to get out of here and because the knee was just sprained will be able to board in a week or two.

I’ll check in when I get to school and try to keep this thing up or I am sure that girl from the blog exchange will kick me off.

Coop I can’t for the life of me get that hang of the writing you do over at your place but it’s all good.

The mouth is much better. I'm going to G's to hang on his deck and do some Hookah. It's almost sixty degrees here today. This hookah we brought back from Istanbul is one of the better ones I have experienced.

It's only a sprain

It’s just a sprain.

I guess the diagnosis of orthopedic injuries via telephone is not all that it is said to be.

The other thing I forgot to mention in my last post was that the reason I came home as early as I did to begin with is that I was scheduled to have my wisdom teeth out today. You may think that this is a little late in life to have them out but it is not the case. I have a late birthday, August, and am just catching up with the rest of you. I did not let my otherwise crippled condition interfere with the extraction of those nonessential useless pieces of bone.

I keep writing here as if I am writing to the old DJ crowd.
I’ll get used to it eventually.

The magnanimous G has agreed to come over - best friend from high school also home on break - even after a day of snowboarding and with heavy legs. I think he is coming over to borrow my Percodan, but it’s better than being alone and in need of the tender loving care of someone other than my mother. I don’t have to talk when he is here.

I tried to join that blog explosion, not sure why, they rejected me twice. Once because I put down the wrong url the second time because the only post I had up was in regard to stalking cooper and that did not please them. They wanted me to do more stalking before allowing me into their inner circle. It was funny because not long ago I signed up with my old dead journal, the one I write in three times a year, and they accepted me. Luckily for me my coolness seemed to come through and after a persuasive letter to the vice president in charge of all things I was granted an exemption and given a stamp of approval.

Broken on the Mountain

Fuck Utah. I ran into/onto August, a friend my brother dragged here this year, after he fell and stopped short on the half pipe. I ran into him at a high speed necessitated by the pipe; this you will understand if you have ever been on one. He has a severe shoulder injury and he will need surgery. Then as luck would have it I tore my ACL and possibly MCL as a result.

Those who do not know me have to understand that this body is a war zone. I thought that after high school and giving up lacrosse, after jumping into the gorge in Ithaca freshman year of college, finally giving my shoulder it's last hurrah requiring surgery, after the broken hand, broken foot , bad braced knees that suffered through fourteen years of soccer. I thought I was done. Not so fast I guess.

ACL tear and possible MCL damage at the same time.

This is unfortunate since surgery on my shoulder freshman year I have been almost injury free.

Flying home tomorrow and will see my orthopedic doc. He knows me so well from all my knee and shoulder injuries that we can do phone consults from Utah.

My girlfriend we will call her nan,is heading down to spend a week with me at home anyway. I hate to say it but it is the first year out of the last five that I have been truly bored in Utah.

I’m in Utah but didn’t take anyone with me this year. My girlfriend is spending the time with her family. I am heading home in three days and she is heading to my home so all will be what it should be.

I have started a blog, like cooper only mine is a half ass facsimile. I started it so that I could post comments on other people blogs. I was bored during the days preceding Christmas when on return from a trip to Puerto Rico, a trip I take yearly with my father and brother to surf and body board, all the adrenaline left and I crashed into an abyss of self pity. This because G was not yet home from school, cooper doesn’t come here as it is no longer her home, addy was not here and there really isn’t anyone else worth worrying about except maybe John but he seemed to have disappeared for a few days as well at the time.

The night boarding really “isn’t” here so evenings can be long.
